Kilara said in her contest rules journal that we get brownie points for things like nifty poses and a background story.

I suppose I could have more variety with the poses but its already 5 am right now and I really need to get to bed.

The only story behind this is the fact that my eyes are bleeding from having worked on this so long.

For those of you whom play second Life and have attempted to build something, you understand the sheer amount of time and patience it takes. Now, imagine making something like this. It uses about 40 different sculpts, 30 different textures(All hand painted), baked dynamic lighting, and an entire arsenal of cursewords as my ocnnection abruptly gave me the finger and said 'Up yours'.

So without further delay, I bring you Nailmus of the Royal Guard.

Built entirely in Zbrush, (minus the spheres for eyes and flexible cylinders for the pinion feathers), sculpted by hand which took 5 painstaking days to capture the essence that is nailmus. each texture was handpainted, each scale shaded in by hand (I'll admit I cheated and reused some scales in various places).

I know these aren't technically DRAWN, but Kilara never responded to my note about whether doing a 3D 'render' was okay or not. <_> I certainly hope this doesn't get disqualified, because I've seen people do spore creatures and bead creatures.
